DISCLAIMER:

I am an Amazon Affiliate. Why I think this is super fun…

I WANT to share what I’ve learned with you. Amazon created an affiliate program where I earn a percentage if you buy something through one of my shared links. What a great co-creation!

  • This does not increase the cost to you in any way.
  • I feel like I’m receiving from Amazon in return for the investment I made in purchasing products and trying them out all of these years.I created a store on my own website. You can find that on my Art Supply Page. There are Categories of art supplies that I use and love such as, Watercolor, Acrylic and Art Journaling.
  • The products can be added to your basket right on the site and your purchase is made through Amazon.
  • I get a percentage of the purchase for through the Affiliate program and this helps me buy new paintbrushes, products, etc. that I plan on sharing more about in the future.

Optionally, if you’d like to help out in this way, you can save my affiliate link to your web browser tool  bar bookmarks and click to do your shopping from there. It brings you to the Amazon site but tells Amazon that you found them through me. This supports me by giving me a percentage of your purchase price at no additional cost to you. You can buy the same household or gift items as usual and my art business will benefit just by you doing your normal shopping.

My toolbar affiliate link is here: Emily’s Amazon Link.
Click to open the link.
Copy and paste the www. url from the top of your screen, save and label your new Amazon toolbar bookmark.
Easy peasy! And thank you!

How do Pet Portraits work?

Using your reference photos I will hand draw and paint your pal using professional-grade (Daniel Smith) watercolor pigments on 300lb Arches watercolor paper. I may also paint in acrylic or mixed media for added durability or upon request.

⭐ HERE’S WHAT I NEED TO BEGIN:

* A clear main image of the pet you would like me to paint. A couple of other images in different positions or situations to give me a little more of a feeling for your pet. Good lighting is preferred, however, I can brighten the reference photo you send me before I begin. If you only have one photo we can work together with that.

* It is very IMPORTANT that the photos are clear and show details and colors. Blurred photos, bad lighting and low-quality resolution will all affect the final results of your image. If you are not sure which image would look best as a painting, you are welcome to send me several images to choose from and I will select the one that will work best.

* Things to think about: Choose a position that best expresses either your pet’s personality, their eyes, an aspect of them you treasure or something that reveals their relationship with you or the family.

* A short sharing about your pal’s personality. What is he/she like to live around? What was happening in the photo you are sending me? How does this moment showcase the essence of your furry friend? Note any other interesting or endearing things about their personality.

🚚PRODUCTION & SHIPPING TIME

* After you send me your images, we sort through which will be used as the main photo for the painting, I will begin the mock-up process where I do a rough layout before I begin the final painting. I will send you a pic of the rough layout and once approved I will begin painting the final. From the time I begin the final painting to the time it reaches your doorstep (assuming you live in the lower 48 of the US) allow 4-6 weeks. The process may run considerably faster, however it takes time to paint and I may have several orders ahead of yours and I like to allow more time than less when painting something so precious.

* Paintings will be delivered through USPS either flat between cardboard or in a tube. FRAMES ARE NOT INCLUDED. Images with frames are samples only.

COST and SIZE: Currently, portraits are 11×14 and cost $185. Payments can be securely made through my Paypal link.

Do you do custom art?

I will sometimes take on a custom art collaboration outside of my current offering of custom Pet Portraits.
Here is the general format for that:

*Please look at my art style to see if we’re a match before deciding I can draw or paint your creation. I am able to paint well. I am not able to paint everything, in every style. Let’s figure that out before we invest a lot of time together!

*If we match: We discuss your art project or e-mail about it to further see if we’re on the same page with art, pricing, timeline, etc. If so, see next line.

*I collect half price of the initial agreed-upon amount up front. I can easily spend 25-50 hours (plus), in order to create your image, depending on size and complexity. This includes research, mock-ups, painting, revising, etc. It is important to me to know we are both equally invested in your project. Payments can be securely made through my Paypal link.

**This is an important step**.

*After that is taken care of, I create a Private Pinterest board where you give me examples of what you are looking to create. This ONLY applies if there are MULTIPLE LAYERS to the project, such as a logo, t-shirt art, projects that include multiple items such as text, art, styling, etc. (If I am just painting a Pet Portrait or creating from a single image you send this step isn’t necessary.) I send you a detailed write up on how to collaborate with me on the board, what I am looking for and why.

It helps you clarify your vision which in turn helps me. Looking at images together gives us a much more concrete common language in the world of art and design. If we aren’t on the same page, I can spend a lot of hours creating something you don’t like and I will have to charge more money for more revisions. Let’s create clarity from the beginning.

*I begin creating your art. I send you a link to the mock-ups for you to approve and adjustments are noted before beginning a final.

*I offer 1-3 small revisions before charging an extra $75 per hour/or a flat rate fee for additional changes, depending on what the revisions require. Eg. Adding highlights vs. changing the entire background would be two different cost scenarios. The reason for the range is that it can take a LONG time to recreate a very detailed piece of art from the beginning, just to change a couple of things. I cannot redo a 20-50 hour project 3x for the same price I charge for doing it once. So, this variance is project dependent. This is why the Pinterest step is so important! Clear communication costs less for both of us and gives you the product you want, in a distilled and timely way.

*I send your final art to look at through e-mail. You are happy with the results. This is so important to me! I want the art I create to match the energetic that you are targeting. Yeay, it does!
After you submit the other half of the final payment, I send you the art, files, etc. And with that, our business venture comes to a very satisfied close.  Thank you!
